FAQ with Denise

What does a personal trainer do?

A personal trainer helps to minimize the risk of injury and guide the client to their goals while also incorporating a healthy lifestyle and opening new avenues for them to enjoy.

Why get a personal trainer?

There is a lot to be said about the accountability factor here. A good trainer is a good listener and a motivator. They are continually taking classes and going to seminars to advance their knowledge and keep up to date with new findings. They should also be certified in nutrition. A good trainer could give the client the best workout session in the world, but unless the client is following it up with a sound food program it will fail. 80% of the success of losing weight and toning up is the food program. I like to keep it fun by changing the routines and the environment. Sometimes training inside the gym, some days outside.

Should I lose weight before I hire a trainer or start working out?

I hear that one a lot. The answer is no. Studies have shown, the clients who hire a personal trainer while losing weight, lose twice as much as the people who do not workout. You will get faster results if you stick to a program with a good trainer.

Is there a consultation?

I get my clients working out on the very first visit. Most of my initial consultations are over the phone. That is where I gather up information on your goals and needs. While warming up on your first session, I will go through a short medical questionnaire and discuss the program that I have created for you so far.  I will also get your weight, measurements, and physical assessment at that time.

How soon should I expect to see results?

If you are following a sound food plan and committing to your training schedule, most clients start to see some results the first week. Again the more you come in, the more active you are and committing to a sound food program the faster the results.

Do you accept credit cards?

I only accept cash at this time.  All sessions are paid at time of service. Since I keep my prices right below gym prices, clients do not have to buy 30-40 sessions to get a good price. I keep them right under their good deal. I don’t believe in going into debt to get in shape and make your self healthy.

What is your hourly rate?

My hourly rate is $95 an hour. 98% of my business comes to me. But in the event of a client who wants me to come to the house the rate is double. I also have a policy if a client refers me a client who comes to me. They get a free training session. I don’t put a limit on that ever. To me that is the nicest way of saying thank you to a client.

What about cancellations?

I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I charge for no shows. Yes there are emergencies that happen and I do take those into consideration.

Why would I hire you?

Because I am confident you will see results in the fastest and safest amount of time. I have been in the business for over 35 years starting with Richard Simmons in the late x70’s. My background is in nutrition and weight loss, rehab, kinesiology, physiology, Pilates, weight training, and endurance training. So you will never be bored that is for sure.
